Filipino President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has proclaimed a disaster situation - defined by circumstances including mass casualty, widespread structural damage, and disruption to means of livelihoods and daily routines for residents of impacted regions.
The typhoon, called in the region Tino, devastated the densely inhabited island of Cebu, inundating whole settlements and sweeping cars through the streets.
Many thousands of people had to be relocated, while some are sheltering in designated safe zones.
