Messages Highlight the late financier and former Trump strategist Connection

Steve Bannon
Bannon served as the former president's closest advisers before stepping down from the White House in August 2017

In November 2018, Steve Bannon, previously a top aide to Donald Trump, visited the UK to deliver a speech at the Oxford Union.

The event was interrupted by numerous demonstrators, and Bannon, who was due to travel that night, told Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Protesters slowed down speech I doubt I can make the flight we r enroute to the airport".

Epstein replied: "There. Is a Gulf Air departing at 9:50 with a stop in Bahrain". Bannon answered: "U r an amazing assistant".

These messages were released on Wednesday alongside more than 20,000 documents from the records of Epstein, the late convicted sex offender.

The release by the Congressional committee contains an iMessage chat where Bannon's name is redacted. Media outlets managed to establish his involvement by matching the dates, events, and locations mentioned.

For example, Epstein talks about chartering a jet from the UK for the unnamed individual in the messages, and offers praise their "address at Oxford". Bannon participated in the News Xchange conference on 14 November, and gave the speech at the Oxford on November 16.

Bannon, who faces no allegations of any wrongdoing, did not reply on the request for comment.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon served as Trump's closest aides in the lead-up to the presidential election and in the early days of his presidency, but resigned from the administration in August 2017.

He has admitted he was making a film about Epstein before his passing and allegedly has around 15 hours of recordings. In a live taping of his podcast recently, he stated: "We're going to publish the series, the multi-part documentary, next year - at the start of next year."

But the newly released documents indicate Bannon's relationship with Epstein went further than documenting his life, with the disgraced financier at times seeming to act like a personal assistant.

A few days before the conversation in which Epstein appeared to have booked a private plane for Bannon, Epstein remarked: "how does it feel to have the highest-paid travel agent in history ".

Bannon thanked him: "U r quite capable asst", to which Epstein responded "Therapies. Not Included".

Discussing a trip to "AD" in another message, Epstein told Bannon: "I will ensure you are taken care of."

UK Politics Mentioned in Exchanges

The published communications also reveal Bannon and Epstein talking about UK politics in that year.

Earlier on the day of his address at the Oxford Union, Bannon texted Epstein: "I became involved in the EU exit issue this morning with Farage, Boris and Rees Mogg."

Then, in what seems like a allusion to the UK prime minister, the struggling British leader at the period, he continued: "The guys are attempting to move on. may soon…"

Epstein advised Bannon: "In my view remaining as much as you can uk. Best-- so others see the commitment of your follow through."

Soon after, Epstein inquired: "Can Theresa May remain in power". Bannon answered: "I don't see how however the people over here have little courage" and noted "Johnson ; Gove; Jacob Rees-Mogg; David Davis - someone has to take charge".

Theresa May was eventually removed in 2019 after withstanding multiple attempts of no confidence in late 2018.

A representative for the political party told media: "Nigel Farage has never been in a meeting with Steve Bannon, Rees-Mogg and Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest that encounter occurred.

The Congress will decide soon on whether the Department of Justice should release all its records related to its investigation into Epstein, who died in jail in 2019.

Attention in Epstein's associations with influential individuals was reignited recently after the publication of more than 20,000 pages from his archives.

Some of those referenced Trump, who has repeatedly denied any impropriety. The leader was a friend of Epstein's for a long time, but says they fell out in the 2000s, two years before Epstein was first arrested.
