Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have intercepted missiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.

It said debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
