Viral video clips appeared to show Jones making an obscene gesture at Jets fans, but Jones maintains he was actually signaling approval to Cowboys fans present at the game as his team clinched a 37-22 victory.
“It was unfortunate. It was kind of an interaction with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a large group of Cowboys fans—not New York fans, our fans. The whole venue was filled with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”
He further emphasized that the signal was entirely accidental, occurring amid the excitement following the team’s last score. “I just showed the incorrect digit,” he remarked. “It was inadvertently done. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. But it got corrected rapidly.”

This incident isn’t the first time an NFL owner has been fined for inappropriate behavior. Previous cases involve:
